The 43 Days of Daytona - 43rd Place in 2005
Over the 43 days leading up to the Daytona 500, I'll be doing a short review/preview of the Top 43 Drivers of 2005.
----------------
Johnny Sauter
#09 - Mickosukee Gaming
He had 10 starts in 2005. His average start was 31.0. His average finish was 29.0.
Best finish in 2005 was 9th at the Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on 4/23/2005.
His winnings for 2005 were $749,453.00.
His averages seem to hold over his 3 years Cup career. Over those 3 seasons, he's ran 31 Cup races for various teams. His best shot came when he was in Richard Childress's AOL #30 car, just long enough to have a cup of coffee.
Sauter has broken his ties with the Busch Series #1 Yellow Transportation car and Phoenix Racing, but it looks like Yellow might have gone with him.
Jayski is reporting that Johnny is expected to be driving for Gene Haas next year. Car will be numbered either 00 or 44. Sponsors listed at this time are Yellow Transportation, Haas Automation, NetZero, and Best Buy.
Look for he and this car to not run a complete Busch season together in 2006 and for him to be ride shopping early in the year. The car may run a complete season, but I doubt he'll be behind the wheel the whole way.
Will he make it back into Cup? Maybe not this year.
