Hey, Mr. Bush
In 1996, responding to a Hawaii Supreme Court ruling that a ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, Congress passed and President Clinton signed into law the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for the purpose of federal law.
From an article on CNN.
Turns out that there IS already a Federal Law banning same sex marriage.
So...why are we twisting about this again. It can't be a case of "look at what we're doing over here...not at what's going on over there...here, same sex marriage, look we're fighting back against that, yeah...don't worry about that over there"...can it?
Classic Karl Rove-ian strategy.
Next up...flag burning and the estate tax. So, I'll go ahead and lay my cards on the table there too.
I still say that way to stop flag burning is to tell those who do it, if they feel so strongly about it, to go do it in the parking lot of a superspeedway during NASCAR race weekend.
As to estate taxes, as long as the rich man pays his freight in an analogus way to the poor man, I'm good with reform. If the rich man pays less of a percentage simply because he's rich, that's bullshit.
Now, then, Mr. Bush, can we get back to Iraq and our men overseas, the economy, and gas prices.
Thank you,
Mark Anderson
