The Master of Smoke feels that the best, most considered thing to do vis-a-vis upgrading Windows is to wait 6 months so that the new release bugs have a chance to get worked out.
Additionally, we would recommend not going to Vista until you go to a brand new desktop/workstation...less likely to run into compatibility issues and such in that way.
...course, I just have a DeVry education...what the hell do I know.
