Controversy/Conspiracy Theory - March 2006

Britain Vs. The U.S...the Joint Strike Fighter Deal, British Companies Owned by Foreign Interests and the Future of Anglo-American and Sino-American Relations

This doesn't look good.

The idea that the Brits would get in bed with the French on not just the fighter of the future but an aircraft carrier deal makes me wonder...what will the geopolitical climate of NATO be in 50 years?

I don't like the idea of companies with ties to the UAE, one of the British companies mentioned in the article is owned by the UAE, having direct access to the technology behind stealth any more than I liked them having access to our ports. Not for the same reasons either. The United States doesn't need that kind of proprietary information falling into the hands of the Chinese...and that is exactly who the UAE would funnel it to...for a price...it would be a good price too...a big price.

So let's let the controversy-laden, conspiracy theory mind run for a moment...imagine...

1.A China in possession of technology directly related to stealth either as a means of building their own stealth fighters and bombers or as a means of taking down our fighters and bombers.
2. A drawing tighter of Britain and France as an opposition block to U.S. interests in NATO and the world community in politics as well as arms and armor.

Things that bear mulling.

Of course two factors against the controversy/conspiracy items above...

1. The McDonalds Factor...even with the stealth technology possibly falling into Chinese hands, two nations with McDonalds operating in their countries have never gone to war with one another in open conflict. Put as much truck in that as you want...and do you want fries with it.
2. The British and the French are notorious for not getting along with one another long term. Yes, it has been a long time since they shot at each other with guns...but that doesn't mean they are ready to jump into bed with one another politically...although if Blair's party loses the government, anything is possible.

But remember...these are just the paranoid ravings of a blogosphere hermit who likes comic books and NASCAR...what could he know.
