Poll says U.S. and Mexican Citizens Oppose Border Fence
Ohhhhkay!
Now, let's re-run this poll and ask the people who live in the border areas and border states. I'm betting, at least, the U.S. citizen part of the equation will shift.
I'm not opposed to President Bush's Guest Worker Program...provided said workers are licensed to be here and cross the border LEGALLY.
That's not asking too damned much.
The concept that Americans are too lazy to mow their own lawns or work construction is a crock. The real breaking point is that Americans are going to demand wages higher than those that illegal immigrants will sometimes accept. And...as the Guest Worker Program moves toward reality wages for Mexican immigrants should rise...hopefully.
Equal pay for equal work...without screwing anyone...that's going to be a hard pill for some parts of the society to swallow.
