Week 1 - AP Top 25...with smarmy commentary...HA!

Week 1 AP Top 25

#. -- TEAM -- RECORD

1. Ohio State (35) 0-0
2. Notre Dame (10) 0-0
This is questionable. Did they get this spot because of their performance
against USC last season? They lost to Michigan State last year, who are returning their QB from last year and could be tough.

3. Texas (8) 0-0
UT's whole season will hang on whether they can beat Ohio State early on in
Austin. The obvious trip points are Oklahoma, who even without their star QB
could be a stumbling block, Texas Tech, who is at #25, and Texas A&M, who
regardless of how the rest of their season is going, will definitely get up to
try and put the spoil on the Longhorns.

4. Auburn (3) 0-0
Depending on how many starters and quality rising stars Auburn returns on this
defense, they could be tough.
5. West Virginia (6) 0-0
Norm Hitzghis on the Ticket in Dallas is saying to watch out for West Va. based
on their schedule.

6. USC (3) 0-0
With the graduations from last year, I think they got this point based almost
solely on Pete Carroll being there. Booty is not Leinart. And LenDale White and Reggie Bush are both gone.

7. Florida 0-0
8. LSU 0-0
9. California 0-0
10 Oklahoma 0-0
This one surprises me. But I, realistically, don't expect much to come of it,
even if they do beat Texas in Dallas. I think that the media are underestimating the impact of losing Bomar.

11 Florida State 0-0
12 Miami (FL) 0-0
13 Louisville 0-0
14 Michigan 0-0
15 Georgia 0-0
16 Iowa 0-0
17 Virginia Tech 0-0
18 Clemson 0-0
19 Penn State 0-0
20 Nebraska 0-0
This one surprises me as well. I wonder if something is brewing in the Land of
Corn. Could be worth looking into....course it could be some of the same thing
that I accuse Oregon of below.
21 Oregon 0-0
Okay...are there 3 Pac 10 schools on this list just to pad USC's strength of
schedule. I mean, c'mon.
22 TCU 0-0
No evil SMU on their sched this year to trip them up. Guess we'll see.
23 Tennessee 0-0
Said to be fragile. The early season test against California could drop them out
of the polls.
24 Arizona State 0-0
25 Texas Tech 0-0
Okay, Craig...just for you...and only this one time...Go
Raiders!
...as long as you aren't playing my 'horns, HA!
And I'm going to throw a little honesty at you...Texas Tech is better than TCU, Oregon, Nebraska, and, probably, Oklahoma. So right there, they should be on the doorstep of the Top 20.
They could be better than Louisville and Clemson...the season will tell...that's why they play the games.
