The Grapes of Wrath
I am struggling through the Steinbeck classic. Don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying it.
With the drought in effect in Texas, the story does resonate with me right now.
I can't seem to catch the spirit of the story. I'm still stuck with young Tom Joad sitting under the shade tree with the former preacher, Jim Casy.
This is one of those books that I am going to "stubborn" it out with...one of those that I can't just give up on.
I want to read it, so I'm going to.
It's just a hard row to hoe. The story of tough-spirited, desperate, poor people is a little heavy subject matter for this time of year.
