Marvelous Marvin Hagler

He was one of my heroes when I was a kid.

My granddad, Tommy Strickland, God rest his soul, got me into watching boxing. Tommy had boxed when he was in the Navy in World War 2.

Hagler beat the crap out of his opponents.

And, point of order, that decision that Sugar Ray Leonard won over Marvelous was bull crap. Hagler had beat him like a drum. That fight was Hagler's. They took it from him on points because Leonard was more popular.

Hagler is my favorite boxer ever.

Hagler was a fighting machine. If you never got to see him fight, you really need to see it on video/DVD/whatever. He was great.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Ali too...but Greatness was before my time. I saw Hagler. He was a BAD MAN. God, he was good.
