Woes for Lowes

The Hendrix Motorsports #48 Lowes Chevy Monte Carlo is being forced to go to the back for the Gatorade qualifying races coming up on Thursday for the Daytona 500. After qualifying, the cars go back through tech inspection.

Well, when the car returned from the track to go through tech after laying down a 5th best time while trying to qualify for the front row of the Daytona 500, the rear window had been adjusted in what NASCAR called a clear attempt to alter the aerodynamics of the car.

Chad Knaus, crew chief of the #48, has been ejected from Daytona. I'm sure other fines will follow along with possible additional suspension.

This follows Knaus's being fined $30,000 and suspended for 2 races last year.

Kevin Harvick commented on the fairness of the situation, in light of his crew chief, Todd Berrier, being suspended twice last season for a total of six races, that there seemed to be a double standard at work and "...that maybe we needed to brown-nose more."

I like Kevin Harvick. He tells it like it is. You get a lot of that from NASCAR drivers. Some of them have the politically correct speak going on, but some of 'em will tell you like it is.
