Bachelor Food: Worchestershire Pinto Beans

4 cups of Pinto Beans
1 cup of Worchestershire Sauce
5 tablespoons of Hot Sauce(Tabasco, Louisiana, or Juanitas)
12 cups of water
1 large onion chopped
1 cup sliced jalapenos(fresh or pickled)
salt
pepper

Soak the beans in according to bag directions.

After soaking, bring beans to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer. Keep stired to avoid sticking.

Add Worchestershire Sauce, Hot Sauce, onion and jalapenos.

Canterlever lid over top of pot to allow steam to escape.

Salt and pepper to taste. Keep stired.

Cook to proper bean consistency. Time will vary based on altitude above sea level. Should be between 2 1/2 to 4 hours. Do not let pot boil dry. Keep stired.

Serve over rice, dirty rice or boudain.

Enjoy!

Did I say keep it stired?

Diversions: Have You Ever Noticed?

Have you noticed lately that the Lethal Weapon and Rocky movies seem to be getting a whole lot of play on cable television?

Seems like every weekend, I see at least one of each and in a lot of cases more.

Just felt the need to point that out.

A Pill to Help Us All Through Modern American Life...

Snow on Easter Morning...in Texas and Global Warming

After almost two weeks of beautiful spring time weather, Mother Nature monkey wrenched the Easter plans a little.

The early morning visit of the Easter Bunny that was to coincide with the release from early church was altered by snow...in Texas...when it was 70 the previous day.

Woo hoo!

The hunting of Easter Eggs went forward only in the living room because once the snow did stop, it was followed by rain and general coldness.

By three in the afternoon, it was a fairly pleasant 60 to 65.

Someone tell me the one again about global warming. I get the impression that weather patterns may be shifting, but I just don't know if I buy global warming. We have almost a decade now of milder Texas summers. And the last two have been much wetter than they have been at any time in my memory which clocks in at 38 years now. When we talk about global warming, I expect Texas to become more Mojave-like. But that doesn't appear to be the case...at least not yet.

So there is less snow and ice at the poles than there has been in the past...and how long have they been able to measure those places in person?

Oh, you mean we've been able to measure them foreve...

Oh, you mean we've been able to measure them for two hundre...

Oh, you mean we've been able to measure them for about 45 years or so.

45 years...that tells me that my internal barometer based here in beautiful Irving, Texas probably has as much relevancy as the crap that some scientists are throwing down.

Let's not forget that this is the future. Remember when we were kids, by 2001 we were supposed to have jet packs, flying cars and men on Jupiter's moons searching for Arthur Clarke's monoliths.

In the word's of Red Foreman, "Where's my freaking jetpack?"

NASCAR: 49, 99, Schrader, and Schrader's cousin

Kenny Schrader is retiring. I have been casting about looking for who my heir apparent is. Who would I root for when Ken Schrader retires?

I'm loyal. I was a Packer fan for all those long hard cold years when the playoffs were what other teams did after Christmas. Brett Favre was a godsend.

On the FOX broadcast of the race last weekend, I heard that Carl Edwards was Schrader's cousin. And I thought, hmmm, Edwards seems like a good kid. And he's Schrader's family. Has a certain symmetry to it. And then he won the race! He won the race!

I'm gonna miss Kenny when he retires at the end of next season, but the future looks good. And Kenny is still going to run dirt tracks and the Craftsman Truck Series, so its not like I won't ever get to see him run again.

All and all, a good time to be a NASCAR fan.

Re-lighting the stogie

Hey folks,

It was recently pointed out to me that I haven't been updating this. Sorry.

I am going to start posting my Smoking Lamp fan fic reviews here as well as on the individual imprint sites.

Expect me to bitch and moan severely. HA!

I am also going to drop an occasional original story in here. Some might be comic book based, but some won't be.

This is also going to be the home for my column "Things I Never Thought I'd Say".
Hope its worth reading and coming back for.

Peace,
puff
