A Mexican, heck, any Latin American Head of State, who can be shown to have caved to U. S. pressure is very likely to lose his next run for office. With the high level of Venezuelan propaganda loose in the region and the growth of leftist politics and parties, being a "Friend of America" isn't good for their political future.
