Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!

Saddam Hussein has passed on to whatever afterlife awaits such as he.

I'm still of the opinion that a CIA assassin's bullet finding him sometime in the spring of 2002 would have been the best way to prosecute the bastard and would have saved the necessity of invading Iraq.

But thoughts like that are why I'm unelectable...

The pictures on the news this morning of Iraqi nationals celebrating in the streets...in Michigan were interesting to say the least.

Burn in hell, Saddam. Burn in hell.

Merry F&*^%ing Christmas

This is greatness.

Mr. Garrison from South Park singing about Christmas around the world.

Thanks to the guys from South Park and the boys over at Compfused for posting this up.

Greatness.

The War on Drugs: the Latin Front

The Mexican Army escalates its war on drugs.

Raids, burning fields, and surveillance flights have all increased since the new Mexican President took office on December 1st.

Just look at some of the numbers in the article.

It's staggering...but I wonder what impact it will have on those markets in the U.S.

China, Threat or Modernization?

There are a couple of ways to take this news story.

Yes, China is modernizing their navy, marines and air force.

Would we be as unaccepting of this if someone else were carping about our improving our forces if we in the U.S. had possible military threats from Mexico, Canada, and Bermuda.

Imagine a million man army...intimidating, yes.

Now imagine a million man army...armed with pitchforks and antiquated small arms or World War 2 era equipment.

With the improvements in China's economy, modernization across the board from industry to the military to societal to cultural elements is to be expected.

The concept that we in the U.S. can continue to advance and hold the rest of the world at their current technological level is ludicrous.

That genie is out of the bottle.

That ship has already sailed.

I'm less concerned about a modernizing China than I am about Muslim extremism, the rise of Leftist majorities in Latin America, and North Korea with nuclear weapons.

A modernizing China has more to lose in a major war. And, therefore, logically, would be interested in taking steps to protect themselves and what they have, more than in risking what they have in a destructive paroxysm of match game military fury.

It's like the quote from the movie Peacemaker.

"I'm not worried about the man who wants 20 nuclear weapons. I'm worried about the psycho who wants one."

What FOX Television Series are You???

5 Seasons
( 61 Costs, 45 Reception, and 40 Cult Appeal )
You started out as the new kid on the block, and you worked hard and got just lucky enough to secure yourself a good-sized audience. FOX was happy to keep you around. But over time, as often happens, things started to go awry. Your costs increased, perhaps more than you would have predicted. Lacking a core of devoted fans, your casual viewers drifted away to find other shows. Though you fought a good fight and lived a good life, FOX lets you go after your fifth season. But even if you won't echo on in the hearts of your fans, you at the very least will go on in syndication.

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

RIP Peter Boyle...

Seems like impact people whom I respect are passing away at an alarming rate right now.

Word has broken that Peter Boyle, who played the Monster in Young Frankenstein and was, more recently, Raymond's father on Everybody Loves Raymond, passed away today.

My favorites among his roles were Carl Lazlo in Where the Buffalo Roam and Clyde Bruckman from X-Files. I loved that episode of X-Files.

Sad Day...

I just saw that the man who was the voice of Baby Huey and Heckle and Jeckle has passed away.

Sid Raymond died on December 1, 2006.

Rest in peace.

A C-130 Deploying Countermeasures...

...check out the smoke as it is shaped by the air over the plane.

Referred to as angel wings...I thought this was cool.

Smallville Preview...

...the "team"...excellent.

Green Arrow, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Flash...excellent.

Wonder how long we'll have to wait for them to get back to the Martian Manhunter following his ten second appearance in the ep where the Phantom Zone escapee, played by the WWE's Batista, was eating people on the Seattle docks.

Thanks to those Phantom Zone escapees the threats are getting bigger and the consequence of the stories larger.

The series is probably in either its last season or next to last season. But hopefully it has made an addition to the Superman mythos. Rumors continue about whether the Chloe Sullivan character will transition to the comics or not...I hope so.

Ah well...I love this show.

Okay, the Kid's Got Skills...and NFL Talk

I've refused to drink the Kool Aid.

I've ignored and, almost, drowned in the Tony Romo hype on Dallas radio and television. And trust me there has been a crapload of it.

And I still don't think you should be dusting off a place in Canton for this guy, or giving the Lombardi Trophy to the Cowboys yet, or naming him MVP.

The kid is good.

He's got skills.

He's still a kid...but he's pretty damned good.

And I'm not joining the Romo-sexual fan club, but I think the Cowboys have their Quarterback of the Future and the future looks good...if you're a Cowboy fan.

***

If you're a Packer fan like me...you have to start wondering if Rodgers has anything in his bag if he can't even get into a game in garbage time when the Pack should be resting Brett Favre.

***

Is this a changing of the guard year in the NFL? Look at the rise of the new QBs...Romo, Rivers, Young, Leinart, Cuttler(or is that with one T?)...

***

I've said it before...I'll say it again...

Ben Roethlisberger needs his Mom to move to Pittsburgh for a couple of months. Feed him a steady diet of chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. Put that 25 pounds back on him that he lost between the motorcycle accident, the appendix surgery, and the first concussion. And he'll be more like his old self.

***

Do you think that the New York Giants ever wonder what would have happened if they had just said no to Eli Manning and held onto Phillip Rivers?

***

Rex Grossman had such a great early season. Since then...not so good.

If the Bears defense stumbles, they are beatable. If an opponent's offense can hang 20 on the Bears, they are...beatable.

***

Thanks to injuries and players just returning from injury, the Seahawks are slowly turning back into that team from last year. They carry a load of intangibles as we wind toward the playoffs. Not sure that I would want my team to have to play them when it is go time in the playoffs...plus they've got the best kicker in the league.

***

I wonder about Atlanta...are they going to blow up and dismantle a good team? I'd say they are probably going to fire their coach. As to the rest...time will tell.

***

Does Coughlin last out the season?

Depends on the in-fighting in New York. But...losing to the Cowboys yesterday...I don't know if it'll happen this week...but keep your eyes on it. Coughlin is bound to be on a short leash.

***

Will Cowher retire at the end of the season? Not sure about that one. Does he wish he had retired with Jerome Bettis? I bet.

Smoke extends our condolences to Jerome Bettis on the passing of his father.

***

Does Bill Parcells come back for another season in Dallas?

He looks like he is enjoying the game again. I'd give good odds that the New Jersey Con Man will be on the Cowboy sidelines next season.

One more Green Lantern thing...

Music put to slideshow of Green Lantern art.

Fake Green Lantern Movie Trailer...

A movie based on the GL origin would kick ass.

Dying alien, Abin Sur, crash lands on Earth, pursued by bad guys.

He recruits an heir from among the population, a fighter pilot, Hal Jordan. An heir who will take his place in the Green Lantern Corps, a pan-galactic police force dedicated to keeping the peace throughout the cosmos.

With a big special effects budget, this project would kick ass.

I know...I know...that's 2 kick asses for a movie that probably won't be made...Shoot me, I think it would...kick ass.

Military First Responder Radio Signal Jams Garage Doors

Well...I guess this means we could always use it to trap the terrorists in their garages...

...What was that?

...they don't have garages. Most of them don't have cars.

Does it bother anyone else that the United States 21st Space Wing is using the same frequency as garage door openers?
