The 43 Days of Daytona - 26th Place in 2005

Over the 43 days leading up to the Daytona 500, I'll be doing a short review/preview of the Top 43 Drivers of 2005.

----------------

Dave Blaney
#22 - Caterpillar

Blaney ran a full season in the #07-RCR-Jack Daniels Chevy. He had 2 Top 10's, no Top 5's, and no poles. His average start was 23.4. His average finish was 24.1. He finished 26th in points with winnings totaling $3,303,613.

He will run the full season with Bill Davis Racing in the #22-Caterpillar Dodge.

An announcement has come down that Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull will run Toyota Camrys in the 2007 season.

Blaney will have Michael Waltrip as a teammate in the #55-NAPA Dodge. I expect good things from this team this year.

Will sponsorship be big enough to allow the team to field a car every week? Yes. The Catepillar sponsorship is one of the most solid in NASCAR.

Do I think he could go win a championship? No.

Do I think he could win a race or two and have a good season? Yes. The team has won before. Blaney is a good driver in good equipment. Anything is possible.
