The Coup in Baghdad...And No One Cares
Sigh!
This is ridiculous.
Armed men took over the Mayor's offices in Baghdad.
The man who was Mayor ran and hid...to save his life, who can blame him.
The man who was Governor of Baghdad Province took over the seat.
The Prime Minister's office says "Oh well" and plans to take no action.
BLANK STARE!
BLANK STARE!
And we've still got soldiers there because we're bringing American-style democracy to these people...
BLANK STARE!
BLANK STARE!
An American Embassy spokesperson said. "...that since the previous Mayor had offered to retire due to economic reasons." He claimed he wasn't given enough money to run the city. He requested 1 billion dollars for his budget. They gave him 85 million. "His resignation will probably be accepted and the new mayor," re: Coup Leader, "would continue in office pending an official appointment by the Prime Minister."
Hmmm, I know we in the U. S. had some troubles with the 2000 Election process and all, but this just doesn't seem right to me.
