The Smoking Lamp #71
I am reformatting the Smoking Lamp comic book fan fiction review that I have been doing for about a year now.
JLU-2001
Dark Genesis #2
Dark Genesis #3
Dark Genesis #4
by Curt Fernlund
This is a big imprint-wide crossover featuring all the heroes and villains of the DC Universe in fan-ficky goodness. Curt again proves why he is the man in charge at JLU-2001.
Favorite scene: Jimmo(Jimmy Olsen) coming face to face with an escapee from the Monster Factory...a giant green rampaging version of himself.
Zard vs. Grodd came in a close second.
Showcase #19
by Alex Hayden
You can see Alex's writing maturing over time. Over the last year, he has grown as a writer. Good stuff, stem to stern.
Freedom's Five...hope this becomes a regular series. Wonder at whether there should be a connection between them and the new Force of July that I developed over in JLU's Aquaman.
Favorite scene: Psimon telling the others that he wasn't going anywhere and that Doomsday needed to be stopped. I liked the clear brained Psimon being a hero of the piece. Made a nice juxtaposition to the evil bastard that he usually is.
Superboy #7
by Curt Fernlund
This one is full of good images.
Favorite scene: Death shrugged. Cool!
Martian Manhunter #9
by Brent Lambert
This one seemed too short. Good stuff. But too short.
Favorite scene: Captain Atom found in a box in a storehouse that put me in mind of the final scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Ark of the Covenant is stored away in an endless warehouse.
